Welcome from our Head of Nursery
Welcome from our Head of Nursery

Dear Parent/Carer

Welcome to Elie Street Nursery.

In Elie Street Nursery where excellence is our goal we provide for each individual child a welcoming, caring ethos where children are confident, motivated and enjoy learning in an establishment where education is stimulating, challenging, exciting and fun.

Nursery is often a child's first experience alone into the larger world outside the family and the home. Recent months have been difficult for families and attending nursery should help make things feel a little more normal for you and your child. We recognise that you may be anxious about your child starting nursery. Please be assured that the health and safety of our children and staff is paramount and we continue to follow current Covid guidance from the Scottish Government and Glasgow City Council.

By working in partnership with parents/carers we aim to provide an environment which is warm, friendly and an extension of the home. We try to involve parents in the life of the nursery to ensure your child's learning journey is a happy, memorable and successful one.

If you have any questions please speak to a member of staff who will be happy to help.

Yours sincerely,

Michelle Smith

Head of Nursery

Daisy our ‘Nursery Wellbeing Dog’
Daisy our ‘Nursery Wellbeing Dog’

Daisy is the Head of Nursery’s family dog. She is a KC Registered Lhasa Apso.  Daisy frequently visits the children at nursery to promote overall wellbeing.

Daisy also enjoys listening to stories and singing nursery rhymes. Reading to dogs helps children develop their reading skills, encourages positive behaviour and helps build confidence and self-esteem.  Reading to dogs inspires children to have fun and enjoy the experience of reading.

In order to comply with the Data Protection Act 2018 and with GDPR it is necessary to get your written consent for your child to participate in activities with Daisy.  Please complete the consent form and return to Ruth as soon as possible.

Please be advised a Risk Assessment has been completed and you are welcome to read it upon request.
